Martin 00-21NY Acoustic Guitar - Vintage 1965
SOLD - This stunning 00-21NY comes from its original owner who’s parents bought it brand new for him in 1965, this guitar was refurbished by Martin in December of 2013 (full factory list of repairs detailed below. The 00-21 NY is one of the first "vintage" re-issues, or as close as 1960s Martin got to making a 1920s-style guitar. Overall length is 38 1/2 in. (97.8 cm.), 14 1/16 in. (35.7 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 in. (10.2 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.).
With folk music on the rise in the early 60’s, Martin set to create an instrument that appealed to the needs of players while honoring their own legacy, thus the NY models were born. Their namesake harkening back to the company’s original roots in the city, as well as the modern Greenwich Village Folk scene, these models feature lighter bracing, no pickguard and an older style 12-fret neck with wide fingerboard. Also featured are no markers on the side of the fingerboard and a slotted headstock, these were nearly identical in look and feel to the 1920's originals.
Features Brazilian rosewood back and sides, and a non-original case.
